What’s on My Bookshelf & What I’m Reading in 2025
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been interested in what people are reading. Scrolling GoodReads is a favorite hobby of mine. You can friend me on GoodReads here. This week, the school I work at is on spring break, so I have found myself reorganizing and decluttering my apartment. Perhaps that’s a bit of spring cleaning and a bit of the “just married” cleansing of my space. I thought it would be fun to gaze at my bookshelf and share with you the books I’ve read in the last few years that I’ve loved, and also share some of my most anticipated reads of 2025.
Many of you can relate by the fact that your bookshelves are always filled with books you have the intention of reading but never actually get to because you keep buying more books… which I’m definitely not guilty of. Whether this is true of you or not, let’s dive into what’s on my bookshelf and what I’m reaching for this year!
First, I’ll share some of the books I’ve read over the last few years that I’ve loved.
This is my cute little bookshelf, nestled on the wall between our home office and guest bathroom. It really makes the space, in my opinion!
This section of my bookshelf is what I’ve read over the last few years, though I’ve listened to many more on Audible or read them on my kindle. A few of my favorites include:
Another Gospel by Alisa Childers
Everybody Always by Bob Goff
Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis Majors
In a Dark Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. Phillip Keller
Other favorites that were read on my kindle or listened to on Audible are:
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard (I actually read this one every year.)
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
Suffering by Paul David Tripp
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
Looking for Alaska by John Green
As for what I’m currently reading- there are a few. I have never been able to read just one book at a time. So, I’m reading one paper copy, one book on my kindle, and listening to one on Audible.
My husband and I are reading the Fourth Wing series together, and I am hooked on it, even though I’m just on the first book! Garden City by John Mark Comer is what I’m reading on my kindle, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is what I listen to on Audible when I’m driving, going on walks, or cleaning the house.
As for my most anticipated books to read from my bookshelf, I have quite a few! For whatever reason, the last few years I have struggled to read at as fast of a pace as I used to. Therefore, I do not read as many books in a year as I have in years past, but I do still enjoy reading, and I really try to explore various genres throughout the year. Here is what I’m picking up from my bookshelf this year!
I’m most excited for:
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
The Evolution of the Gospelettes by Tammy Oberhausen- I picked this up in Kentucky’s capital, and the writer is a Kentucky native!
Find Your People by Jennie Allen
Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom
Church of the Small Things by Melanie Shankle
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
My goal is to read 12 books this year, which is a very attainable goal for me! I’m curious to hear what books you’re reaching for this year! Leave a comment or send me an email at sacredseasonsblog@gmail.com!
Until next time,
xoxo
